Light Emitting Diodes (LED) light bulbs are revolutionizing the light bulb industry and during this festive season, Vancouver was at ‘ground zero’ in transforming the future of the seasonal light displays around the world.

On November 25th 2016, the switch was flipped on the ‘Enchant Light Maze and Festive Market’ in a region of south False Creek near the Cambie Street Bridge. Billed as the largest LED Christmas light display in the world, it featured more than 50,000 square feet of illuminated displays. The ‘Greatest Christmas Light Show on Earth’ ran for 36 days and came to an end on New Year’s Day, January 1, 2017.

The display featured strings of more than 1 million individual LED’s, which bathed almost an entire square block in twinkling festive lights. The highlights included:

Me at the Enchant Light Maze

  • The Brightest Christmas Tree in Vancouver –a staggering 60-foot tall tree lit up with more than 80,000 LED’s.
  • A total nine (9) custom built, 25-foot tall reindeer – and as people passed underneath them, they will be in the midst an enchanted forest of 20-foot tall LED festooned trees.
  • A Festive Marketplace, where more than 50 merchants were open for seasonal shopping
  • A Festive Food Court – featuring 12 of Vancouver’s favorite food trucks and a fully licensed under-cover dining area.

The Enchant Vancouver organizers had a budget of more than $2.5 million for the event and the proceeds of a gate entry fee; corporate and media sponsors; and merchant revenues helped offset the costs of this ambitious LED forest of enchantment.

The ‘Enchant Vancouver LED Light Show’ site accommodated more than 6,000 people and is within walking distance of the Olympic Village Skytrain Station. It was also fully visible every night to 50,000 drivers; 2,500 pedestrians and thousands of residential windows throughout the False Creek residential area.

This LED light show extravaganza was planned and executed by three Vancouver-based special event companies: the Shine Lighting Group: WetApe, a progressive special event company; My Zone Media Inc. and Exhibau Exhibition services.

However the Enchant Maze did more than delight visitors and the people of the Lower Mainland. It also highlighted the game-changing energy-savings of LED lights.

LED’s save 90 percent in electrical energy and the top-quality brands last more than 50,000 hours. They make possible the creation of fabulous seasonal light displays at a fraction of the energy consumption with the lights of Christmas seasons past.

At HighNet Energy we stocked our own version of LED festive light strings, similar to the ones which will light up the night at the Enchant Maze. And we’ll be bringing in even more in time for next holiday season.

We’re anticipating you’ll be able to watch for Led Bright LED festive lights in select B.C. Home Hardware Stores; at the Led Bright Showroom at 2141 Burrard Street or at the on-line E-Store.
